Kuwait Allows Resumption Of Pakistan Flights
Pakistan Airlines announced that the concerned Kuwaiti authorities, represented by the General Administration of Civil Aviation, had finally allowed it to resume its flights between Kuwait International Airport and Lahore Airport, initially two flights per week, after an interruption of nearly a year.
Local news reports indicated that Kuwait’s permission to appeal came in the wake of a decision by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority to suspend a weekly flight from the two Kuwaiti airlines’ schedules to and from Pakistan as of October 1, 2021.
Prior to that decision, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority had sent a letter to its Kuwaiti counterpart describing the refusal to resume operations of Pakistan Airlines flights to and from Kuwait as a “violation of the bilateral air services agreement between the two countries.” It also announced its intention to start activating the principle of reciprocity. Kuwait Airways’ scheduled operations between Kuwait and Pakistan starting from October 1, 2021.
After the response from Kuwait, a spokesman for the Pakistan International Airlines announced that PIA will resume its air operations to Kuwait from Lahore initially, with an average of two flights per week.
