Kuwait has recorded the highest temperature, exceeding 50 degrees Celsius in the shade yesterday afternoon.

Temperatures reached 50.7 degrees centigrade in the region of Metriba and 50.1 degrees in Kuwait City in the shade.

The Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences Dr Khalid Al Zaak said that the region of Metriba, in North Western Kuwait has become the hottest in 76 years in Asia and the third on earth.

On July 21, 2016, the temperature peaked to a record 53.9 degrees Celsius, an all-time high in the Metriba, he said on his Twitter account.

The Death Valley in California currently holds the record for hottest air temperature ever recorded. The desert valley reached highs of 56.7 degrees in the summer of 1913.
