Kseq Has Called Upon The Moe To Check The Qualification Certificates Of Expat Teachers

Secretary of the Kuwait Society for Education Quality (KSEQ) Hashem Al-Refa’ei said the society has called upon the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to check the qualification certificates of expatriate teachers also instead of focusing only on the Kuwaiti teachers.

Al-Refa’ei was speaking following the disclosure that many teachers hold fake certificates. He added the ministry is conducting aptitude tests for expatriate teachers at the Kuwait University. He also pointed out the university can confirm the efficiency of the teachers via tabled/scheduled tests that help evaluate the capabilities of the teachers.

Al-Refa’ei insisted the KSEQ is determined to apply those procedures before the appointment any new teachers at any of the universities. He added some expatriate teachers complain about the long wait it takes for the concerned authorities to authenticate the certificates issued by foreign institutions. He pointed this long wait is due to the delay caused by the certificates issuing authorities in the respective countries.

For example, he said, some teachers carry certificates from universities which are not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. He added in some cases the certificates were issued a long time ago and the task of authentication becomes difficult.
