Koc Magnetic, Seismic Surveys In Last 10 Years
According to official data, the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) conducted magnetic surveys in all parts of Kuwait, and seven major seismic surveys during the past ten years, reports Al-Anba daily. Through seismic surveys, KOC also conducted a number of studies for several deep reservoirs in order to discover light oil and associated gas or free gas and increase oil and gas reserves in Kuwait. The data revealed that the surveys carried out by KOC resulted in the discovery of many promising reservoirs and fields of various types of conventional oil, light oil and free gas, in addition to associated gas, which was discovered in a number of fields recently, such as Qashaniyah, Kabd and Umm Al- Rus.
The number of discoveries during the ten-year period is 18 aquifers. These discoveries come within the framework of the plans and programs of KOC that were implemented for this purpose. They had the most impact and positively refl ected on the increase in oil and gas reserves in Kuwait. It should be noted in this regard that, despite the difficult circumstances the country is going through in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, KOC succeeded in reaching a number of new discoveries – Kabd, Houmah, Kahlula and Qashaniya. These discoveries include light oil and associated gas that are in commercial quantities in the Qashaaniya field in the northern Kuwait region, at a rate of 1,819 barrels of oil per day and 2.78 million cubic feet of associated gas per day. KOC had discovered four oil reservoirs containing associated oil and gas during the 2020/2021 fiscal year, which are four fields – Kahlula, Qashaniya, Houmt and Kabd – and in various aquifers.
