Khaitan Residents Claim Their Area Is Troubled By Marginal Workers

A list of demands were outlined by a number of Khaitan residents, where it was mentioned they are victims of the flourishing residency visa trade and their area is paying the price from its negative effects and enduring dangerous repercussions, Al Rai daily reported.

They pointed to the abundance of illegal workers, the pathetic cleaning services, and urged for the adoption of appropriate solutions to fix the infrastructure that is unable to cope with the high number of residents in the area, many of them pouring in from other areas.

For his part, citizen Saad Al-Mutairi stressed that the Khaitan area in particular suffers from marginal labor as a consequence of the residency visa trade, and there is an urgent need to develop radical solutions to this thorny issue, which should be a top priority for the next council. He added that simple solutions will not help in dealing with this issue because the Khaitan area is paying the price due to delays in dealing with the issue, which is the main reason for the deterioration of the quality of services in the area. He added the most important issue is the spread of marginal labor and the many problems that result from it.

Citizen Fahd Al-Otaibi expressed to the local daily that the quality of services in the area is poor, especially the cleaning work, and mentioned that the cleaning teams are growing frustrated with the population density in the area, unable to continue to maintain the area despite their efforts. He called for the enforcement of laws regarding cleanliness violations and intensify follow-up campaigns, and to hold accountable every official who fails to follow up on his work tasks. He also demanded the increase in the cleaning working teams, to meet the increase in population density.
He also mentioned that large numbers of expats of Jleeb who have moved to the area, and requested a way to stop this unauthorized movement to the area.

On his part, citizen Khaled Al-Rashidi warned that the exodus of expats from other areas, especially from Jleeb to Khaitan, may lead to chaos similar to the situation in Jleeb or Hasawi areas, adding, “We do not want a repeat of the occurrence of these areas in the Khaitan region.”

Pointing out that the level of cleanliness in the area requires more supervision and law enforcement on both citizens and expats, he urged officials who are reluctant to impose the full authority of the law, to see the distortion of the general landscape in the areas and do something.
