Italy looks forward to increasing bilateral trade exchange and boosting investment and industrial cooperation with Kuwait, a top official affirmed Thursday.

The current state of economic and commercial cooperation between Kuwait and Italy is still” below potential,” President of Tuscany’s Regional Council Eugenio Giani told KUNA. Giani made his remarks on the sidelines of meeting with Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) delegation in Florence, northwestern Italy. The Kuwaiti trade team has met with representatives of various Italian business sectors, he said, adding both sides showed keen interest to strengthen their cooperation.

The two countries have developed their trade exchange through exports, and had vital and fruitful cooperation in technological innovation and upgradation, said Giani. The KCCI delegation’s visits to a number of major companies and meetings with prominent business figures and executives in Tuscany region contributes to bolster Kuwaiti-Italian friendship and partnership on political, economic, cultural, and institutional levels, he noted.

The Italian parliamentarian also said that the two countries and people have bounded their relationship 28 years ago with the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, indicating that three decades of close friendship should solidify the two nation’s economic partnership. Giani, known for his renowned supportive stand by the Kuwaiti cause in 1991, said that the KCCI’s particular tour to Florence proves the historic city’s significance as the capital of friendship and solidarity, in addition to being a welcoming gate for economic and investment cooperation with Kuwait and rest of GCC member-states.
