Islamic Scholars Stressed The Importance Of Azan Which Is Part Of The Islamic Worship Rituals
A number of Islamic scholars stressed the importance of “Azan” (call for prayer) which is part of the Islamic worship rituals, insisting that it must be performed in the mosques by muezzins, reports Al-Anba daily.
They stated this in response to the calls for using pre-recorded Azan or broadcasting centrally.
A scholar from Makkah, Khalid Al-Kharraz, said he does not consider the idea of using pre-recorded Azan or central broadcasting of Azan as a correct one, indicating that Azan is part of the Islamic rituals.
He said the suggestion to deprive Muslims from the virtue of performing Azan and limiting that right to only one person does not seem right, indicating that muezzins replace imams in the absence of the latter.
Al-Kharraz stressed that religion is spiritual in nature and cannot be dealt with from a materialistic perspective, calling for the need to select the best voices for the ritual of Azan and not to cancel this job.
Also, Dr Bassam Al-Shatti said using pre-recorded Azan or central broadcasting of Azan prevents many Muslims from doing that job and getting the heavenly reward.
;He stressed that implementing such a suggestion will affect the number of Muslims going to the mosques due to which they will lose a large part of the reward of the prayer.
Dr Al-Shatti highlighted the beauty in the variety of voices and the individual ways of performing Azan, indicating that some Muslims may feel spiritually moved by a muezzin but not all would.
In addition, Dr Saad Al-Enezi said there are many intellectuals who keep distorting the Islamic rituals and raising doubts about this.
He stressed that the claims about the job of a muezzin not being important and can be replaced by central broadcasting is wrong and have nothing to do with Islam.
Dr Al-Enezi explained that Islam considers intention as part of the worship. This means muezzins must have the intention and the will for performing Azan, which cannot be achieved by the voice that comes from the recording machine.
