Iraqi Held For Robbing Expatriates

The Hawalli police have arrested an Iraqi who specialized in robbing expatriates (passersby) in the Al-Salmiya area, and found in his possession narcotic substances and stolen vehicle keys. He has been referred to the area police station.

The arrest came when the suspect and a taxi driver were seen assaulting each other in Salmiya apparently following a dispute over the taxi fare. A police patrol on duty in the area arrested both men and later discovered the fight was over taxi fare that the Iraqi refused to pay. Police then checked the name of the Iraqi on police computer and discovered he was wanted by law in a drug case. Police also seized from the man a quantity of hashish.
