‘interior Ministry’ Release Crime Statistics For 2021
According to statistics obtained from the Public Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior, 19,478 people were detained in police stations, three-quarters of whom were criminals or wanted for civil cases, 2,583 were residence law violators, 358 were intoxicated, 3,089 were arrested for drug dealing, 1,041 were missing, and 7,301 did not have identification documents in the year 2021. In addition 1,657 vehicles wanted by law were seized, 66,284 miscellaneous traffic citations issued, 32,326 traffic accidents handled, 799 vehicles seized for various reasons, and 103 violations issued for overly crowded parking lots.
Statistics show that the Capital Governorate registered the most misdemeanor cases in the past year with 4,532, followed by Hawalli Governorate with 3,895, Farwaniya Governorate with 976 and Jahra Governorate with 732 cases of felonies. There were 414 felony money cases and 661 misdemeanor checks cases, according to statistics.
