'insurance' Delays Renewal Of 60+ Residency

01 February 2022 Kuwait

Even though the Official Gazette published a law regarding the residency renewal of expatriates above sixty years of age without university degree, the delay in finalizing the insurance terms makes the expatriates to wait for their residency renewal.

According to reports, the inability of the insurance companies to come to terms with PAM on the modalities and the insurance fees are causing the delay.

According to Arabic media reports, insurance companies proposed a fee of 500 Dinars and consultation fee of five dinars each time a person visits the hospital and the patient must pay 10 percent of the hospital bill. However the PAM has not agreed to this proposal as it does not serve the humanitarian approach to reduce the value of the work permit renewal.

PAM had earlier issued a law to renew the residency of this category with a fee of 250 KD per year and a valid insurance from any of the insurance companies listed in Kuwait Stock Exchange. The delay in finalizing the insurance modalities are becoming a new concern for the expatriates of 60 years and above.
