Indian Embassy Organizes Virtual Buyer Seller Meet On Marine Products
Indian embassy in collaboration with Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Cochin organized a Virtual Buyer Seller Meet on Marine Products on Jan 6. Over 100 participants from India & Kuwait were present. Ambassador inaugurated the event which was addressed by Dr. Reem Al-Fulaji Dy Director, PAFN.
The virtual event was organized under the theme ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India). Indian Ambassador HE Sibi George explored the trade and commercial prospects of marine resources. “With 7516 km long coastline, India is richly endowed with an abundance of marine flora and fauna,” explained HE George during the inauguration event.
Talking about the India-Kuwait bilateral relationship the Ambassador said “India is separated from Kuwait by only the Arabian Sea between them, meaning that we are closest of the neighbors, and our close bilateral relationship, reflects this proximity and understanding of each other.”
“Our trade and commerce relationship is robust and is growing further. India is a major source of food grains and other produce, helping ensure food security in Kuwait. Fisheries products are a major part of our bilateral trade, with India being the largest source of seafood imported into Kuwait,” said the Ambassador.
Dr. Reem Al Fulaji, Deputy Director of Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), Kuwait. As a representative of the regulating body in Kuwait, responsible for the import of fisheries and related products, shared her insights to help promote quality import from India. Mr. Faisal Al-Rashidi, also shared insights on all aspects of seafood import, from the Kuwaiti Regulator’s perspective.
“I wish every success to today’s conference and hope that the participants form useful contacts with each other, and help promote the seafood trade between India and Kuwait in the coming days. We, at the Embassy, particularly our Commercial Section, are always available for any help you need,” Ambassador said
