Increase Seen As 263 People Died As Result Of Traffic Accidents Last Year

The Ministry of Justice in its annual statistics says 263 people died as a result of traffic accidents last year, an increase of 4 percent from 2017, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, Ahmadi topped the list with 86 deaths, while the Capital recorded the lowest number of deaths at 13 people. Of the traffic cases, the statistics show the Traffic Court looked into 4,584 cases, a majority registered in Al-Ahmadi governorate (1,355 cases), while the Capital was the lowest with 202 cases.

According to the statistics, the traffic courts in the six provinces in 2017 received 17,271 cases of which 5,574 were dismissed and in 11,697 cases were received in 2018.

The statistics pointed out based on verdicts issued by the traffic courts imprisoned 300 violating motorists, withdrew 263 licenses and collect 488,778 dinars in fines during the same period, indicating that the most recorded months of cases last year was in December which saw the registration of 1,576 cases, and the lowest in January with 20 cases
