08 May 2022 Kuwait

Thousands of passengers returned 'home' after spending the Eid al-Fitr holidays abroad, with the Kuwait International Airport continuing to accept travellers from about 50 Arab, Asian, and European countries.

According to a local Arabic daily, the agencies operating at the airport devised a plan to deal with the arrivals rush, and workers in the operation sectors were mobilized to ensure a smooth flow of passenger traffic, increase work efficiency, and improve services provided, especially ground service providers not to delay when handling baggage.

According to data, 651 planes passed through the airport in the last two days, with 326 arriving and 325 departing from the most popular destinations like Cairo, Istanbul, Dubai, Alexandria, Jeddah, and Sohag.

According to sources, the total number of tourists returning in two days is expected to be over 38,000, with a number of airlines flying additional flights for travellers from Arab and European locations.

According to the sources, the diversity of the airport buildings contributed significantly to reducing congestion in the departure and arrival halls, with some emergency congestion resulting from the irregularity of flight schedules for some airlines in takeoff and landing, which caused congestion at specific times at some airport sites.

In the field, the procedures of the operating devices at the airport helped to facilitate passenger movement, as the number of employees at the gates and transit areas was doubled, and support work teams were on standby to overcome any obstacles that travellers might face, and the Ministry of Interior and the General Administration of Customs shortened the arrival and departure procedures.
