In Three Months, 360 Noon Work Bans Have Been Violated

31 August 2022 Kuwait

The Kuwaiti Labor Ministry has completed its field inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with a ban on summer noon outdoor labor and found 360 violations over the last three months.

Since June 1, Kuwait has had a daily ban from 11am to 4pm running until August 31.

According to the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM), its teams inspected 420 work sites and found 600 workers working there during the ban.

Al Anba newspaper quoted PAM as saying that inspection tours of 20 workplaces over the past 10 days revealed 20 such violations.

An employer who violates the ban is initially notified to stop the infringement and adhere to a one-day grace period, labor officials said.

We conduct another inspection tour of the same site. If the violation is repeated, the employer’s record is closed and a fine of KD100 per worker is levied.

In the Arab Gulf countries, where there are large communities of migrant workers, the ban occurs in summer when the mercury soars. In order to protect workers from heat stress, the restriction was imposed.
