In Kuwait, A Court Has Upheld A 10-year Sentence For Indians Who Fabricated Medical Test Results

13 October 2022 Crime News

Eight Indian and Egyptian expatriates were sentenced to ten years in prison today for tampering with blood test results in exchange for bribes from unfit expatriates. The court today rejected the appeal submitted by the accused.

Eight expatriates, including Indian and Egyptian Nationals, were arrested earlier for tampering with the medical test result to give a 'fit' certificate to unfit expatriates for residency purposes. Investigations backed by evidence indicated that they had issued “healthy fit” certificates to a number of residents with viral diseases and submitted them to the Residence Affairs Department to issue them residency in the country.

Their arrest came after a resident of Asian nationality was arrested. The accused admitted to paying a sum of money to a person in exchange for passing a medical examination and obtaining residency during interrogation, and by seizing the latter, he instructed others, including mediators and employees of the Ministry of Health, who issued these certificates in exchange for 200-350 dinar in payment.
