In Just Five Days 260 Flights Land, 261 Take Off

Over the past five days after activating the Cabinet’s decision to reopen the airport to its full capacity as of last Sunday, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation statistics show the number of flights arriving and departing was 521 — 260 incoming and 261 departing.

The statistics, a copy of which has been obtained by the Al-Qabas daily, showed total passenger traffic at the airport was about 65,759 passengers, including 28,228 arrivals and 31,516 departures, while about 5,015 passengers used Kuwait as a transit point.

A source told the daily the airport is gradually increasing its operation capacity of regular commercial flights for all airlines, according to the requirements and needs of travelers.

The source stressed the DGCA is waiting to know the operational needs to keep pace with the implementation of the Cabinet decision, and to determine travel destinations and passengers, coinciding with the winter season, which begins at the beginning of next month.
