Implementation Of Privatization Is Imminent
Informed sources indicate that privatization is nearing the implementation phase, which is a clear response to the need to correct the economic path by increasing private sector participation in achieving state development goals, reports Al-Rai daily. There is a tendency for the government to privatize the postal service and the fiber network, according to sources.
Concerned authorities are preparing a study in this regard, and the necessary technical conditions are being met. Once the comprehensive study regarding the privatization of the two sectors is completed, it will be forwarded to the Council of Ministers for action. Currently, the Ministry of Education has half of its staff working after terminating the services of the other half. Al-Anba daily reports that four assistant undersecretaries have submitted their resignations, including Dr Ali Al-Yaqoub, undersecretary for private education, facilities, curricula, and legal.
There are also three educational districts without directors - Jahra, Farwaniya, and Hawally; as well as the Department of Special Education, and other supervisory positions. Education sources revealed that the administrative vacuum in the ministry needs urgent resolution, especially since it differs from other ministries. According to sources, the ministry employs about 130,000 people, including teachers and administrators. More than half a million students are enrolled in the educational system, which requires round-the-clock monitoring.
