Imam Suspended For Publicly Exaggerating The Praise
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has suspended the imam Sheikh Fahad Al-Kandari who was preaching at the Hisham ibn Amer Mosque, for publicly exaggerating the praise of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asking Allah to shower mercy and forgiveness on Amna bint Wahab, the mother of the Prophet (PBUH), reports Al-Rai daily.
However, in his defense Al- Kandari said he was suspended without being interrogated. He also claims he does not know the reason why he has been suspended. He said all what he did was asked for mercy, forgiveness and blessings of Allah because the Prophet’s (PBUH) mother died before Islam. As for the next procedure, Al-Kandari said he will first file a grievance, followed by a lawsuit within 60 days.
Al-Kandari denied violating any provision in the charter of mosques. He added, there are preachers who have violated the charter without being suspended and one of them interfered in the internal affairs of one of the Gulf States and the ministry was only satisfied by warning him and asking him not to repeat the violation.
