If There Is A Labor Shortage, 130,000 Thousand Violators Will Be Hired

24 April 2022 Information

In light of the severe shortage of expatriate workers that the labor market is currently experiencing in most of its sectors, particularly craftsmen and other professions, senior officials from the Public Authority for Manpower revealed that the authority is studying the implementation of a plan in collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Interior for the benefit of violators of residence and labor laws, as well as companies that are experiencing labor shortages.

According to a local Arabic daily, the plan is to allow violators to normalize their situations and work legally if the Ministry of Interior grants another amnesty for this category of expatriates to legalise their stay, similar to the ministry's February 2020 deadline for violators to regularize their stay or leave without paying fines.

PAM stated that this procedure will encourage tens of thousands of violators to legalise their status, which will help to alleviate shortages in many professions and sectors, noting that the Interior Ministry estimates that there are about 130,000 people in the country who are in violation of residence and labor laws.

The goal of this vision, according to sources, is twofold: it contributes to resolving the issue of violators and meeting labor market needs by allowing business owners to benefit from those who are actually present in the country, while also expecting the market to visualize a wide breakthrough, especially in light of the presence of thousands of lawbreakers who do not pay residency fees, and it expects the market to visualize a wide breakthrough.
