Husseiniyas' Security Will Be Tightened By The Moi
On the eve of the month of Muharram (the first month of the Islamic calendar), the Ministry of Interior has completed preparations to keep up with the Husseiniya activities beginning on the first day of Muharram and culminating on the 10th day or Ashura. A total of 2,900 security personnel, including 100 women, have been assigned to secure 106 Husseiniyas.
Al-Rai daily reports that movement around these sites will be controlled to ensure the safety of its congregations. Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Operations, Traffic, and Public Security Affairs, revealed that the ministry is prepared to commemorate Ashura. Under the direction and supervision of Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas, all necessary arrangements as well as the readiness of all sectors involved in securing Husseiniyas have been completed. To ensure the safety of citizens and residents, an integrated security plan has been developed in coordination with the owners of the Husseiniya councils.
Among the security measures set by the Ministry is the deployment of fixed security detachments and foot patrols as well as traffic and rescue, public security, intelligence, civil defense and special forces as well as medical emergency and firefighting forces, as well as male and female volunteers. Organizers who own councils within the walls will be responsible for securing entry and exit. The police will be responsible for securing 106 Husseiniyas outside.
In order to secure the Husseiniyas, about 2,900 police officers including 100 women were screened. A total of 200 men and women will also participate in the various tasks to monitor the security situation, ensure attendance, and inspect arrivals. In each governorate, the ministry has established a mini control room, which is linked to the main operations room in the Sabhan area. Each site is monitored by cameras from all directions. Husseiniya is also protected from vehicles by security barriers. Each police officer is fully equipped, fully prepared, and has clear instructions to deal with citizens and residents skillfully and efficiently.
