Hundreds Of Article 17 Passports Cancelled

Hundreds of passports (Article 17) intended for illegal residents (Bedouns) have been canceled, after discovering that there is no database for them. Their owners were obtaining them using illegal means.


The sources said that the owners had extracted these passports using wasta or illegal means and were not in the database. This made the General Administration of Nationality and Travel Documents review thousands of files for these passports, to find that hundreds of them do not meet the conditions as they had obtained the passport Article 17 by illegal means


The Nationality and Passports Sector has assigned a number of officers in the management of travel documents to review all the files of those who possess these passports, and whoever is proven to have obtained them by illegal means his name will be debarred on all the ports, and thus his passport becomes null and void and will be withdrawn and prevented from traveling, He will be referred to the Nationality and Passports Department to investigate him about how he obtained the passport.

The conditions to grant this passport of Article 17 are specific which includes children of Kuwaiti women and their spouses which is issued for studies and treatment and is valid in 65 countries. During audit it was found that number of passport holders have security restrictions.
