Heavy Crowd At Driving License Issuing Machines In Complexes
Severe overcrowding is being witnessed at the automated driving license processing machines located in major commercial complexes as well as the running out of licenses, which in turn hamper the process of issuance of driving licenses, reports Al-Anba daily. Both the citizens and expatriates expressed their hope for immediate solutions that would enable them in obtaining their driving licenses so as to avoid incurring penalties.
They stressed that they have started renewing driving licenses, but the lack of raw material is a problem. Expatriates highlighted that restricting the machines in the Avenues Mall to only citizens during both morning and evening hours deepens their problems.
In this regard, security sources said there is a problem with the availability of material for issuing the licenses. They said traffic departments are distributing enough material for 700 driving licenses per week, and efforts are being exerted to provide more material, indicating that citizens have the right to visit the traffic departments and service centers to complete their transactions.
The sources explained that the General Traffic Department has entered the second stage of issuance of smart licenses. Expatriates who are issued driving licenses for the first time can obtain smart licenses with modern security and formal features which keep pace with global developments and specifications, in addition to being in conformity with specifications and standards containing security features particularly modern international anti-fraud ISO18013 standard.
The third phase is being implemented, and smart licenses will be provided to all expatriates who are in the process of renewing or replacing their lost or damaged licenses.
According to an expatriate, he had visited one of the traffic departments and was informed that, if he wanted to obtain the license, he had to come at dawn. Another expatriate said the total amount of material with an officer or policeman is barely enough to complete 50 transactions.
