Grant Amnesty To Illegals Residents

The Interior Ministry and the Public Authority for Manpower discussed the issue of unlawful residents and urged that individuals who broke the Residency Law restore their status, pay penalties, and resolve absconding cases be given a deadline.

According to a local Arabic newspaper, the agreement was made during a recent meeting between Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah, Justice Minister Jamal Al-Jalawi, and PAM officials to examine the subject of labour violations in the private sector.

According to the sources, the green light was granted to begin planning for a temporary initiative to deal with residency violators who exclusively work in the private sector.

This suggestion aims to improve the situation of almost 150,000 people who have broken the law. During the Corona crisis, the Interior Ministry launched the "Leave Safe" program, which benefitted around 27,000 illegal inhabitants.
