Govt. Hospital Penalized For Misdiagnosis Of Patient’s Disease

The Court of First Instance has ordered a government hospital to pay temporary compensation worth KD 5,001 to a patient who sustained major health complication due to misdiagnosis by doctors of the hospital of the injuries he sustained in an accident.

Representing the patient was Lawyer Mubarak Al-Khashab who sued the hospital’s director and undersecretary of Ministry of Health for the medical malpractice that occurred in the hospital due to misdiagnosis by one of its doctors. He said his client, due to the medical malpractice, had to obtain treatment overseas due to the complications that followed.

Lawyer Al-Khashab demanded the hospital and Ministry of Health pay temporary compensation of KD 5,001 while they wait for a final assessment of the moral and physical damages sustained by his client. He stressed that the medical report issued by the forensics in this regard was endorsed by the panel of doctors that is investigating the medical practice, revealing that he will file for final compensation of KD 100,000 after the final decision is made.
