Government Talks Of ‘entertainment’ But Forgets Beaches Remain Closed

02 February 2022 Kuwait

At a time when the Council of Ministers is busy with recreational activities and vital projects to stimulate domestic tourism, this hope collides with a bad reality that indicates that the “door to entertainment is closed until further notice”.

On the other side of the bay, only 24 kilometers away from the Cabinet meeting seat of the Seif Palace, where the Public Services Committee discusses recreational activities in the Wafra and Abdali agricultural areas, some beaches are a ‘no-go area without justification, especially the Anjafa and Al-Maseela beaches.

In a distinguished marine location, which may be described as the most beautiful on the Arabian Gulf, and at the first point on the coastal strip on the Al-Ta’awon road, Anjafa and Al-Maseela beaches are still under maintenance, and the concerned authorities have prevented the public from entering these areas for a long time, in a picture that reflects a reality that indicates the closure of the door in the face of domestic tourism, without providing alternatives, so that recreation in open and natural spaces is a distant dream, especially since the two coasts serve several areas such as Salwa, Rumaithiya, Al Bida, Sabah Al Salem, and others.

6 demands put forward by the enthusiasts:
1 – Develop an urgent plan to stimulate domestic tourism
2 – Work to reopen closed beaches
3 – Implementation of more entertainment projects
4 – Transferring the experiences of the Gulf countries to Kuwait
5 – Organizing artistic, theatrical, and cultural activities
6 – Accelerating entertainment projects in Abdali and Wafra
