Government Schools Suffer From A Cleaning Crisis

10 April 2022 Information

Financial controllers are refusing to pay any dues to enterprises until they pay the fines imposed by them, causing a new crisis in the employment of cleaning staff at the Ministry of Education.

While the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Education are attempting to address the shortage of cleaners by reaching an agreement with the companies that provide cleaners by exempting them from some of the fines imposed on them during the Corona pandemic, the financial controllers are refusing to disburse any funds to the companies until they pay monetary fines, suggesting that the cleaners crisis will continue.

According to the sources, the continued non-disbursement of funds to companies means that the sanitation workers' strike in schools will continue until the end of the current academic year and that school administrations, teachers, and students will continue to suffer from poor services and waste accumulation. The competent authorities have raised the issue with senior ministry officials to find solutions to the problem.

The ministry has contracted with cleaning companies to offer eight cleaners in each school, but it has been stifled, resulting in a labor scarcity in the area and the difficulty of bringing in new labor from overseas.
