Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's Prime Minister, announced Monday that Kuwait had defeated the latest wave of the Coronavirus, which paved the way for easing restrictions as well as providing guidelines for dealing with the virus.

The health ministry had taken pre-emptive measures, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled clarified during a press conference following the weekly meeting of his cabinet on Monday. The cabinet loosened pandemic restrictions for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people after the infections surged and the number of people who received vaccinations soared, he announced. He noted Kuwait was reducing its restrictions on Coronavirus and was "living with it and its different variants".

It was pointed out by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled that the cabinet had scrapped PCR test requirements for students and unvaccinated travelers. Moreover, mosques were no longer socially segregated and unvaccinated people were allowed to shop in shopping centers, he said. From the 13th of March, all government offices will operate at full capacity.

Although, His Highness the Premier stressed the importance of wearing a facemask. In closing, he thanked all the individuals, as well as employees of the public and private sectors, for their support and commitment.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah was briefed Monday by the COVID-19 ministerial committee on the latest developments regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Sheikh Hamad - who is also chair of the committee - learned about the improvements made in lowering infection rates as well as the increase in the number of children receiving booster vaccines at a meeting at Seif Palace.

A total of 603,869 Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases have now been confirmed in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti Health Ministry announced on Sunday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 2,562 so far. According to the ministry's Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, the number of recovered patients has also increased by 5,406, from 565,903 to 565,903. The recovery-to-infection ratio stands at 93.7 percent, while there was only one death from the disease over the last 24 hours, bringing the mortality rate to 2,521 since the outbreak erupted. Al-Sanad reported that 90 patients in intensive care units (ICUs) were languishing, that 35,445 cases were active, and 394 patients were living in Covid-19 wards, that there were 35,445 active cases. Furthermore, medical teams conducted 27,611 swab tests over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests conducted in the country to 7,332,716, he said.
