GCC health ministries completed the second phases of their project for standardizing medicine prices across the GCC countries, quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Equipment at MOH Dr Omar Al-Sayed.

According to report, the authorities have managed to standardize the costs of 1,200 categories of medicines last year and about 900 categories of medicines this year. In the third phase of the project, the authorities will ensure the safety of the medicines and ensuring they are provided to sick individuals at reasonable prices.

Once the medicine prices standardized across the GCC countries, there will be a difference of 22.5 to 45 percentages in medicine prices, reports added.
