Frozen Mutton Destroyed

The Food Import Department of the Food and Nutrition Authority (FNA) has destroyed a consignment of frozen mutton, which consisted of 44 carcasses weighing 746 kilos, reports Al-Rai daily.

Director of the administration Ali Al-Khanfour told the daily the cargo was intercepted when it was in transit at the airport and the technical committee of the authority discovered the meat was unfit for human consumption.

Al-Khanfour stressed that “the administration, in accordance with its responsibility, continues in its efforts at all ports to ensure that no food unfit for consumption is allowed to enter the country. He stressed the workers in the administration exert tremendous efforts to thoroughly examine all imported foodstuffs in the best interests of the consumers.”
