Front-liners Await Covid Bonuses
According to government sources, the date for disbursing bonuses to front-line workers will depend on the National Assembly’s approval of the law for additional appropriation in the general budget for these payments, reports Al-Qabas daily. They affirmed that the bonuses will be disbursed only to the bodies whose lists have been approved without observations or requests for modification, indicating that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has reviewed and audited all the lists, and approved some of them without notes, while other parties were asked to amend the lists that contain specific notes, as they were not commensurating with the requirements for entitlement to rewards. The sources explained that the last meeting between the budgets committee and the concerned governmental parties ended with the approval to add an item among the conditions of disbursement. It stipulates that the employee must sign a pledge in which he acknowledges that he worked in the front-line and within the bracket under which he is registered.
This condition will be a guarantor for filtering the list. In the event that any tampering is proven even after payment of the reward, the employee will be referred to the Public Prosecution, based on this acknowledgment. They went on to explain that all government agencies have workers in the frontline who deserve reward, taking into account the seriousness of their work. The rewards are not related to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic only. In all parties, there were employees on duty within the period of entitlement to the reward in financial and administrative sectors to ensure that state employees’ salaries are paid during that period without halting the disbursement process.
