Front-line Workers Incentives Linked With Efforts They Put In

15 July 2021 Kuwait

The Supreme Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali, has adopted a frontline incentive mechanism, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the mechanism stipulates that workers in the ministries of Health and Interior are under the high risk category, while the medical staff in the Ministry of Defense and National Guard are under the medium risk category. Sources confirmed that the decision covers Kuwaiti retirees appointed by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to render support services, as well as employees from other government agencies who provided assistance after the official working hours in their respective work places.

Sources clarified the decision does not apply to employees who worked remotely( online), those assigned in diplomatic missions outside Kuwait, and those tasked to perform rites related to the call for prayers who are residing within the premises of the mosques. Sources added the rest days of employees under the shifting system will be excluded during the disruption period, such that only the actual working days are calculated.

Meanwhile, sources said the Ministry of Social Affairs submitted the list of employees entitled to the frontline incentive to the CSC for review according to the regulations; in preparation for submission to the Ministry of Finance, which will then pave way for disbursement. Sources explained the entity’s implementation of regulations stated in Cabinet Resolution number 686 will be reviewed and then referred to the Ministry of Finance to take the necessary procedures for disbursement. The entity will be given a pledge form, stating the need to implement the regulations, sources added.
