Freezing 1183 Jobs For Expatriates In Government Agencies

The current fiscal year budget (2020/2021) has witnessed the freezing of about 1183 contracts for expatriates in 48 government agencies, in preparation for their cancellation in the draft next year’s budget, as part of the replacement and Kuwaitization plan.
Informed sources told Al-Rai that the number of contracts that were frozen in 15 ministries reached 626 jobs for expatriates, the largest percentage of which was in the Ministry of Electricity and Water by 130 contracts, followed by “Health” with 123 contracts, then “Education” with 101 contracts, and then “ Al-Adl has 84 contracts, followed by the Ministry of Interior with 70 contracts, the Awqaf with 48 contracts, and the Media with 33 contracts.
And the suspended contracts amounted to 15 contracts in “works”, 7 in “finance”, 4 in “higher education” and “social affairs”, 3 in “planning”, and one contract for “trade” and “defense”, while 49 contracts were frozen in 8 government departments, including 20 jobs for expatriates in the National Assembly, 16 in the Audit Bureau, 6 in the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, 2 in each of the "Statistics" and "National Guard", and one job each in the General Secretariat of Endowments and the Fatwa and Legislation Department And the General Administration of Customs.
17 attached government agencies have witnessed the freezing of 429 jobs, including 260 in Kuwait University, 65 in Kuwait Municipality, 21 in “Civil Information”, 18 in “Agriculture and Fisheries”, 12 in “Food”, 10 in “Applied”, and 9 In "sports", 7 in "investment", 6 in "environment", 5 in "anti-corruption", 4 in "the Holy Quran", 3 in each of "disability" and "extinguishing", and 2 in each of "youth." And "financial investigations", and one in each of "minors" and "manpower", in addition to freezing 79 jobs in 8 independent bodies.
