Free Bivalent Covid Vaccine For 3 Months
According to the Ministry of Health, the bivalent vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will last for three months starting on February 2, 2023, and the vaccine will be free. In a recent press statement, the ministry urged citizens and expatriates to visit one of the 16 designated vaccination centers between 3:00 pm and 8.00 pm Sunday through Thursday, depending on their civil identification numbers.
The following vaccination centers are designated by health districts:
Capital Health District: Jassem Al-Wazzan Medical Center in Mansouriya; Shaikha Fetouh Salman Al-Sabah Medical Center in Shamiya; Jaber Al- Ahmad Medical Center in Shamiya
Farwaniya Health District: Abdullah Al-Mubarak Medical Center, Andalus Medical Center, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Medical Center Hawally Health District: Salwa Specialized Medical Center, Mahmoud Hajji Haidar Medical Center, Rumaithiya Medical Center
Ahmadi Health District: Fintas Specialized Medical Center; Fahaheel Specialized Medical Center
Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medical District: Adan Specialized Medical Center
Health District of Jahra: Al-Naaeem Medical Center, Al-Oyoun Medical Center, Saad Al-Abdullah Medical Center (Block 10).
In addition, the ministry confirmed that primary and booster vaccinations are available at Abdulrahman Al-Zaid Medical Center in Mishref for youths aged 12 to 17 as well as the first and second doses of the primary vaccine for those aged five and older. It stressed the need for those who have not been vaccinated to take the primary and booster doses, followed by the bivalent vaccine after two months.
Bivalent vaccination aims to increase resistance, boost primary dose effectiveness and minimize harmful effects of Covid-19, thereby limiting confinement in intensive care units (ICUs), especially for those most susceptible to infection. According to the ministry, the bivalent vaccine strengthens protection against the different strains of Covid-19, including Omicron.
