Four Families Citizenship To Be Reinstated
The files of four families that applied for citizenship are now ready, in light of the approval of a report submitted by the committee formed to reinstate withdrawn citizenship under the chairmanship of Consultant in the Amiri Diwan Ali Al-Rashid, reports Al-Anba daily quoting parliamentary sources.
Sources said the committee’s report includes recommendations regarding 40 citizenship files, adding that seven of these recommendations have been approved and referred to the Interior Ministry for implementation. Sources affirmed the ministry carried out procedures for granting citizenship to the families of Abdullah Al-Barghash, Zeyab Al-Otaibi and Motlaq Shma’as.
Sources disclosed the files of four other families remained under the guardianship of the ministry due to the linking of recommendations with the draft law on naturalizing not more than 4,000 persons every year. Sources explained the National Assembly’s approval of the draft law paved way for the naturalization of the families of Abdullah Al-Anzi, Ali Mohamad Akbar, Nayef Al-Mutairi and Hamad Ssayer Rabei. Sources went on to say, “We do not know the exact date of granting citizenship to these families — whether it will be done immediately or they will wait for completion of the full list of Bedouns eligible for naturalization including members of the four families who are 21 years old and the children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis.”
