Indicating that five expatriate employees who were previously reported missing were later found alive, he revealed that majority of the 25 firefighters who sustained injuries during the operation were treated on the spot.
Lieutenant General Al-Ansari commended the officers for their efforts in extinguishing the blaze, affirming that investigations over the incident will commence in earnest. He said the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah was present at the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment to ensure everything went well. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Al-Ansari revealed that Colonel Mohammad Al-Shatti and Colonel Omar Al-Marshoud have been promoted to the rank of ‘Brigadier’. He added that Brigadier Saleh Al-Ansari and Brigadier Jamal Al- Blehis were also promoted to the rank of ‘Major General’.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the General Customs Department, will soon organize an intensified training course for the staff of the General Traffic and Rescue departments on the basic customs inspection methods for vehicles, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the course is aimed at honing the skills of the officers in inspecting vehicles. Sources said a total of 20 officers from six traffic and security departments will participate in the training course, which will help them quickly detect forbidden substances in vehicles. Sources added there has been coordination with the Ministry of Health to give these officers training on administering first aid treatment.
