First Batch Of Filipino Domestic Workers Arrive In Kuwait
Following the approval of the Ministry of Labor in Manila, Philippines lift the ban on sending domestic workers to Kuwait. The first batch of new domestic workers coming from the Philippines arrived at Kuwait International Airport on 24 May, Al Jarida reported.Â
Bassam Al-Shammari, the owner of a recruitment company, told the daily that these workers were quarantined for two weeks under the health conditions imposed by the country authorities through the BelSalamah app.
He added that other new batches will arrive to the country in the coming days after Kuwait Airways doubled direct flights from the Philippines.
Al-Shammari confirmed that the number of domestic workers permitted by the Philippines work in Kuwait is few compared to the days before the issuance of the moratorium, and considers this a test and evaluation from Manila of the extent Kuwait has implemented the changes agreed upon regarding the mechanism of dealing with domestic workers, and preserving their full rights from their arrival in the country until the end of the contract period.
And while he stressed that adherence to the terms of the contract means that recruitment will continue, and not be halted again, Al-Shammari called on the Public Authority for Manpower to comprehensively address anything lacking regarding the right to employment.
