Firefighters Rescue 63 Persons From Rains

29 November 2020 Kuwait

Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said its personnel responded promptly on Saturday to calls from 63 persons who sought help after getting stuck in ponds due to the current heavy rains.

"Those persons were safely rescued and no casualties resulted from the rains," the Directorate affirmed in a statement tonight.

"The number of calls for help hit 130 in the recent days," it said, noting that its operations room was still receiving such calls.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of interior and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh visited the operations room and was briefed by Chief of the Fire Brigade Lt.-Gen. Khaled Al-Mekrad on how to tackle the accidents related to the rains.

Reminding the citizens and residents of its warning earlier today, the KFSD urged everybody to keep at home unless in urgent cases due to the bad weather.

"The country is to continue seeing thunderstorms and moderate-to-heavy rain tomorrow; so it is advisable for everybody to remain indoors and avoid ponds," it cautioned.

The Directorate urged those who might face trouble to dial the emergency phone No 112, reaffirming its preparedness to respond to any emergency.
