Fire Dept Probes Cause Of Fire – Hunt For Missing Person
Personnel from the investigation unit of the Directorate- General of Fire Department (DGFD) are combing the charred remains of the Shuwaikh Central Market, which was completely destroyed by the huge fire yesterday, to look for the person who was inside the market and is reported missing, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to an informed source, the firemen have found the phone of the missing person and pointed to the problem that hinders the search because the market is completely destroyed and the market structure which was made of aluminum is scattered everywhere, in addition to the intense heat resulting from the fire – the fire that was put out by about 150 firefighters. A senior source at the DGFD confirmed that the investigation unit, in addition to its role in searching for the missing person, has collected the effects and tries to find the cause of the fire, which destroyed everything inside the market and in its built-in warehouses.
The losses are estimated to be hundreds of thousands of dinars. The fire sources have kept all the possibilities open until a detailed report is compiled and submitted to the competent authorities. The source said the site of the fire was visited by the Directorate-General of the DGFD Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Mekrad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Issam Al-Naham, accompanied by the Director of Capital Security, Major-General Abidin Al-Abidin.
