Filipino Maids Prefer Working In Uae And Saudi Arabia But Not Kuwait
‘Work environment there better, lack of problems’
KUWAIT CITY, May 29: Domestic workers of Filipino nationality prefer to work in the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia instead of Kuwait due to better work environment for them there and lack of problems and complaints relating to them, reports Aljarida daily quoting informed sources.
They indicated that the viewpoints of the many people in terms of the rights of domestic workers in Kuwait being limited to just the salary aspect is untrue.
According to these sources, the reason behind the non-employment of Filipino nationals in Kuwait, despite the signing of relevant agreements between the two countries, is the non-commitment to the application of the law.
The workers do not receive their rights and the cost of hiring them is low compared to Saudi Arabia where the cost reaches KD 1,800 per domestic worker
