PH EMBASSY IN KUWAIT RESCUES MALTREATED FILIPINA OFW
A post on social media site had led to the rescue of the distressed OFW (Mae) in Kuwait. It was mentioned that she was beaten by her employers and was only allowed to eat once a day. Her passport and her cellphone have been taken from her employers and is being monitored. Teddy Locsin Jr. (Foreign Affairs Secretary) had posted on twitter that assigned Brigido Dulay (Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns) to assist the victim.
The agency and her handler are aware of her current situation and did not do anything because the employer is threatening the victim with false allegations. The post had also notified the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
A post by Brigido Dulay indicates that the OFW victim is now in safe hands at the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait. She will be going back home in the Philippines after the quarantine protocols are done.
The timeline of events started with Teddy Locsin’s post that instructed Brigido Dulay to focus on helping our fellow OFW who was maltreated by her employer. He said that the employers broke two billiard sticks on her back and rubbed salt on it.
