Fear Prosecution Will Enter Political Dispute
MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri has posted on his Twitter account that he expects certain key issues to surface soon. He said lawsuits will be filed against a number of MPs who have had disputes with HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim. He believes this will drag the Public Prosecution into a political dispute. He also expects the use of military force in implementing regulations, such as preventing unvaccinated individuals from entering commercial complexes and shopping malls. He thinks the government will control investments and sell some State properties.
The visit of Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Al- Ghanim to Belgium contributed to efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries, says President of Belgian House of Representatives Eliane Tillioux. Tillioux made the statement in a press conference held with Al-Ghanim after their meeting. She said the visits conducted by members of both parliaments reflect the strong relations between Kuwait and Belgium. She is aware that Kuwait appreciates the objective position of Belgium on international and Middle Eastern issues. She added the visit of Al- Ghanim highlighted the willingness of both countries to cooperate and set an example of good parliamentary diplomacy. She explained that parliamentary diplomacy aims to improve work on freedom, peace and human rights. She pointed out that all countries do this with different intensity levels and ways, but it is increasing on the international level.
On the other hand, Al- Ghanim expressed happiness for being welcomed as speaker of Kuwait’s legislature for the third time. He is proud of the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Belgium, as well as the relationship between the parliaments of both countries. He thanked Tillioux for her country’s supportive stand on issues concerning the Middle East, foremost of which are the Palestinian crisis and the recent developments in Palestinian territories. He praised the fair position of the Belgian Parliament, while urging the government of Kuwait to cooperate with Belgium in addressing many issues. He affirmed that Kuwait is active in the Belgian economy; wishing the best for the Belgian Parliament, government and people. In another development, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa asked the government to clarify the report published by Reuters on the intention of the United States of America (USA) to evacuate 50,000 Afghan families to Kuwait and other Gulf countries. “If I do not receive any reply, it means the information is correct, but no one should remain silent over such an issue,” he added.
