Farah Akbar’s Killer Nears Capital Punishment
The Criminal Court rejected the request to summon an officer in charge of the second case filed against the Kuwaiti citizen Farah Akbar’s murderer who is accused of kidnapping and spying on the victim using a tracking device. The court postponed it to the final pleading by the victim’s family on July 5. Another court circuit will hear the final argument related to the charges of first-degree murder. In the recent session, the defense team presented a portfolio of documents to the court and requested a delay in order to summon the officer in charge of the incident, but the commission refused.
The defense team representing the victim’s family, Lawyer Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan, affirmed to the court that his defense is ready for plea. Through the second case, the Public Prosecution had charged the accused that the victim was kidnapped on March 13, 2021 from her location in Zahra area and taken to another place in that area, all by force. He had deliberately planted a tracking device in the victim’s vehicle that enabled him to track his victim’s movements. It is worth mentioning that Lawyer Al-Qattan demanded the imposition of the maximum penalty stipulated under the articles of punishment, and obligating the accused to pay the victim’s family temporary compensation worth KD 5,001 for the moral and psychological damages they incurred.
