Extra Mall Security To Monitor Entry
The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Faraj Al-Zoubi announced in an exclusive statement to Al-Anba daily that the Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali has issued directives to deploy personnel from the Public Security Police at 10 major malls. The deployment will come into effect Sunday. Each entrance will be manned by one or two policemen to ensure entry only to those who have received the vaccine/s.
Al-Zoubi said police are also tasked with preventing harassment to private security guards. This is in addition to officers manning the control rooms to follow up on the commitment to implement the decisions of the Council of Ministers and called on all citizens and residents to abide by the decisions and health requirements. Major-General Al-Zoubi also revealed a plan to check what he called ‘small complexes’ through sudden periodic inspections. If any person who is not vaccinated is found the facility may be closed administratively.
Regarding the regional or partial lockdown again, Major-General said there are no directives in this regard, and if there is a need for that, certain areas will be closed for a limited period during which all residents will be vaccinated and then opened upon completion of the residents of that particular area. In response to a question about private gatherings since such gatherings are a major cause for increase in infections, Major-General Al-Zoubi said, “Now we are dealing with cases and we are satisfied with pledges, but at the later stage we will refer this to the competent authorities and we will not be satisfied with a pledge, stressing that the instructions of the Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali are crystal clear to implement the law while at the same time taking into account the humanitarian aspects.”
