Expats With Valid Residence Stickers Can Travel Without Civil Ids

12 June 2019 Civil ID

Expatriates with valid residency stickers on their passports prior to the issuance of the ministerial decision No. 135/2019 dated March 10, 2019 can travel without their civil IDs.

In a press release, the Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior refuted the video being circulated on social media where claims have been made that expatriates cannot travel unless they have their civil IDs.

It explained that those with residency from or after March 10 or had transferred information from their old passport to the new one will need to present their civil ID in order to travel. The first and last names on their civil IDs should be in English letters and should be the same as what is written in their passports.

Also, the passport number mentioned on the civil ID cards should be correct. The department urged all users of social media to update their reports with this correction and verify the accuracy of information they publish about security affairs.
