Expats To Get Vaccinated After Kuwaitis
Ministry of Health revealed that the ministry will receive additional quantities of the seasonal influenza vaccine at the end of this month, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily quoting reliable sources pointed to the availability of a stable and safe stock of pneumococcal vaccines at the ministry’s warehouses from where the hospitals and preventive centers get their supplies, according to the need, number of patients and appointments. Sources added the anticipated batch of new vaccines will be given to the largest possible number of people, indicating the possibility of adding a segment of expats within the categories that will receive winter vaccinations during the coming period, according to the available quantities, after completing the number of citizens who had set appointments in advance to receive the shots.
They pointed out that the current period is sometimes witness to lack of appointment slots at centers designated for winter vaccinations, affirming the intense demand for the vaccine by citizens this year compared to the past constitutes pressure on the daily appointments according to the reservation system. It is likely that the coming days will witness a smooth fl ow of appointments in advance, in conjunction with the arrival of additional vaccination quantities.
Vaccines
The sources stated that the health centers received quantities of vaccines a few days ago and allocated for medical staff and nursing bodies in those areas at a rate of 5,000 doses for each region, pointing out that vaccines are available in all preventive centers according to dates granted through the Ministry of Health website, which allows citizens to reserve appointment before visiting the health center. They added that taking the seasonal flu vaccine this year is vital, in view of the fact that the flu and Coronavirus to a large extent share common symptoms and indicators, explaining that flu vaccine reduces the symptoms, making it difficult to distinguish the symptoms of COVID-19. They added the vaccine may need a period of up to two weeks before providing full protection against influenza.
