09 February 2022 Kuwait

According to Al Anba, citing close sources in the government, a similar decision will be made by the Civil Service Commission by August in government institutions except for those for teachers, doctors and service jobs. Kuwaitization involves reducing the number of foreign employees in government agencies gradually over the course of five years, a process the Kuwaitization commission calls "Kuwaitization." Kuwait has a population of almost 4.6 million, with nearly 3.5 million foreigners. In response to the economic fallout caused by COVID-19, voices have arisen in the Gulf country to limit the employment of foreigners. Following repeated grace periods for illegal foreigners to modify their status, Kuwait has recently ramped up its raids on illegal foreign residents. According to Interior Ministry figures, Kuwait deported some 18,000 foreign nationals in 2021.
