Expatriates Teachers Are Threatened With A Bank Financing Block

The expatriate teachers, estimated at about 1,800, who are included on the list of those whose services have been terminated as part of the replacement policy are experiencing difficulties with the local banks and their accounts may be blocked until they move to new jobs that qualify them to borrow again.

Sources informed Al-Rai daily that the Ministry of Education's public education sector provided a list of teachers who were included in the decision to terminate their services to the banks upon their request — as part of their effort to discuss the possibility of placing them on the list of those deprived of new funding until further notice.

Because their loans are tied to the end-of-service reward, they do not face the risk of default; however, it is expected that the outstanding loan money will be deducted from their accounts as they are deposited.
