Expat Consultants To Be Terminated Across Governmental Agencies
The Minister of Economic Affairs and Trade, Faisal Al Medlej, issued a circular on Saturday demanding the termination of expats consultants across six governmental agencies.
In addition, Al Medlej has requested that no new non-Kuwaiti be hired as consultants.
The employees working in the following governmental agencies will be affected: Supreme Council for Planning and Development, the Civil Service Bureau, the Public Authority of Manpower, the Environmental Protection Authority, Central Statistical Bureau and Kuwait Authority for Privatization.
Al Medlej pointed out during a meeting last week that ending the contracts of expat consultants will help the country achieve Kuwaitization, a governmental policy aimed at achieving 100 per cent Kuwaiti workforce in the public sector.
A few days earlier, Al Medlej reveled to Al Jarida that he is in the process of reviewing the decision to regulate work in the private sector, especially in regards to expats above the age of 60 who hold a high school diploma or less.
Al Medlej was sworn in as minister as part of the new Cabinet of Ministers on December 14.
