Ex-deputy Ministers Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison For Mishandling Public Funds

The Kuwaiti Criminal Court passed strong judgement against two ex-deputy ministers from the Ministry of Health and three employees from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for mishandling of public funds, Al Qabas reported. They were handed severe prison sentences for their crimes.

The two ex-ministers were sentenced to seven years in prison, jointly fined 9.6 million Euros, dismissed from their jobs and prohibited from holding any public office position in the future.

In the second case, the employees from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, one of whom is an expat, were both sentenced to 10 years in prison, issued a KD3,000 bail as they are pending an appeal, obligated to jointly return KD207,000 dinars, and imposed a fine twice the amount requested to be returned.

The first accused was also ordered to be dismissed from his position for misappropriating public funds, while the third accused (the expat) will be deported following the end of his punishment.
