Ethiopian Housemaid Reveals That She Was Fine

An Ethiopian housemaid who appeared in a video clip made by her sponsor and circulated on the social media which shows the maid attempting to jump to her death from the seventh floor of a residential building, is seen in another clip lying on a hospital bed, reports Al-Anba daily. The maid reportedly says she is fine and recovering and thanks all those who have shown interest in her case.

The housemaid said she did not attempt to commit suicide but she just wanted to attract the attention and avoid being killed by her sponsor. Investigations conducted by Criminal Investigation Department revealed the maid was reported absconding by her sponsor since 2014. Reports said the maid had not been paid her salary for a month and this prompted her to commit suicide. This is not true and baseless because the maid had begun work in the sponsor’s home only three days before the incident
